We arrived home at about 10:15 p.m. from our journey to England for granddaughter Katie’s second wedding or blessing (to the same fellow—Liam) and our cruise of the Baltic Sea. It was a wonderful trip. Yesterday, however, was probably our hardest day of the entire trip. We awoke early (4:30 a.m.) aboard our ship in Copenhagen, Denmark (or 10:30 p.m. the previous day on the U.S. East coast) and traveled to the airport for our flight to London. We arrived in London at 2:30 p.m., or 9:30 a.m. here in Maryland. We boarded our plane in London at 5:05 p.m. (that’s 12 noon on the East coast) and arrived in Philadelphia at 8:05 p.m. eastern standard time. By the time we passed through customs, passport control, found our baggage and our shuttle driver and arrived home it was 10:15 p.m. That’s about 23 hours after we awoke in Denmark! We WILL plan it differently next time!
We were tired to say the least. In fact, we were bushed! But our spirits were lifted immediately when we entered our home and saw a big poster and balloons welcoming us home. On the kitchen counter was a note from our one and only daughter, Rachel, letting us know that today’s breakfast and lunch were in the fridge! I have only one daughter and she’s the best! Thank you, Rachel, for the wonderful welcome home! You made our day (as you have made every day special since you first came to us).
